This course will explore allegations in the context of looked-after children. It will look at why children make complaints and allegations, and the legal framework.

 

By the end of the session, you will:

Can reflect on and evaluate their own safer caring and allegation management practices

Achieve greater understanding of the need to balance risk with gains for child’s developmental experience.

Confirming and understanding a Definition of:

Standard of care concern (Level 1);

Concerns of a safeguarding nature that fall below the threshold for Section 47 child          protection investigation (Level 2);

Allegation requiring investigation under Section 47 child protection procedures                 (Level 3).

Understand what is included in investigations covering the above.

Have a more in-depth grasp of the relationship between safer caring and minimising      risk of allegations occurring   Have a wider range of ideas about help and support for      safer caring and allegations
