This training invites us to pause and look beyond the behaviour we see in children and young people, and consider what life may feel like when you are growing up with a parent who is experiencing mental ill health or substance misuse
‘Standing in My Shoes’ is about changing the lens through which we see the child. Rather than asking “Why are they behaving like this?”, we can begin to ask “What might have happened to them, and what might they be feeling or trying to tell us
By putting ourselves in the child’s shoes, we can begin to see the world from their perspective — and that can change everything about the way we care for them
