How much could I earn?

Foster care is one of the most rewarding careers there is. Help shape a life and earn a competitive fostering allowance while you do it.

Your skills and compassion are worth a lot

FROM OUR CARERS

“I am eternally grateful”

“It’s been a few years now since I left foster care and I still think about the things you guys helped me with and many other kids through. And for that I am eternally grateful.”

How it’s determined

Foster allowance can depend on several factors, such as the complex needs of the children and young people in your care; their ages and how many you look after. This is often defined within the context of the placement types.

Here at Anchor, our families can receive up to £1,200 week and, after years of campaigning we’re pleased to say that from March 2023, all or most of the money foster parents receive, is now tax free.

But we believe there’s no amount that can be placed on the priceless returns you’ll get from being a foster parent. Those are endless.

Allowances and Professional Fees – what’s the difference?

Foster parents receive a weekly payment for the duration a child or young person is placed with them. The payments are paid to foster parents fortnightly, in arrears. The payment is made up of three elements:

“Anchor is committed to investing in the lives of children.”

“Having a safe and stable home is a prerequisite of a child in care, but to truly raise a child in an environment where they can thrive, they need to have the opportunity to experience life in many forms. That’s why our allowance is aimed at supporting other leisure pursuits and interests too.”
