Starting your foster parent journey

Fostering a child is one of the most rewarding things you can do. We’re here to support you on that journey, every step of the way.

Getting started with Anchor

The road to foster parenthood needn’t be daunting, but we also appreciate the process can appear overwhelming, so that’s why we are here to offer support.

We also understand that deciding to become a foster parent may take time, and that’s why our team is experienced in providing support, whatever stage you’re at.

So, whether you’re ready to start your application or if you’re just interested to find out more, the best thing to do is to start by calling a member of our team for a friendly, no obligation chat.

TALK TO US

What can you expect from the process

As part of our initial discussion, we’ll look to establish whether you are eligible to apply, we’ll talk you through the process and all aspects of how to get approved.  If you’re ready, we’ll also arrange an initial home visit, and this is a good opportunity to find out about our different placement types we offer and ask any questions you may have.

Once you make the decision to start an application with us, we’ll be with you every step of the way. The whole process can take up to 4-6 months, or slightly less if you are transferring from another agency.

Expert training is included

We provide a top-quality, comprehensive training schedule including mandatory training, plus a variety of specialist training, free of charge to our foster parents. It’s a level of training provision not offered by all Independent Fostering Agencies. We rate training as the top priority in the development of parents, so all foster parents with us renew their training periodically.
